About Me
I have always had great affinity with dogs, have been in the Police Service for over ten years, and hold a Diploma in Leadership and Management from Stirling University.

In a Police search unit working closely with explosive dog teams, I successfully completed Suitability Courses for General Purpose and Explosive Dog Handlers with Strathclyde Police. Before this I worked with Victim Support Scotland for nine years and studied Skills and Theory Counselling for two years.

I have completed a City & Guilds Dog Grooming Course at Scotgroom training school with distinctions, sought planning permissions and have converted our garage to base my business, K9 Cuts and Care, from home.

  about me     about me

Four years ago I rescued a German shepherd who was seriously under-weight to the point of muscle wastage, was infested by fleas, ear mites and mange to extensive baldness and severe skin irritations. He was not “the big man” - I named him Bruno. As he grew stronger I sought help with the fear aggression problems he displayed - there was so much conflicting advice.

I then completed an Intensive Dog Training Course with Lisa Hird, (clinical dog behaviourist), focusing on BAT (Behaviour Adjustment Training, for fear, frustration and aggression in dogs. I also learned dog classroom training techniques, clicker training, recall and other basic dog training such as sit, stay, down and wait. I enjoyed every minute and received a certification of excellence. Lisa said that she would trust me to work with her own dogs, this was a real compliment. Although she has moved to work down south I still have regular contact with Lisa and believe first hand that BAT training works as well as other techniques such as clicker training, recall and other behaviour techniques.

I fully understand how stressful training situations can be for the dog and their owner. I am committed to helping people train their dogs and working with them to solve any problems their dogs may have.
